Based on the book “Who am I? The 16 Basic Desires That Motivate Our Actions and Define Our Personalities” by Steven Reiss, Ph.D., a professor of psychology and psychiatry.
I got the idea to use this book as a basis for a dating app, being matched with others who share the same values and desires as you do.
I started with a color pallet and font parameters. Then I drafted a hi fidelity mockup of a log-in page and account creation.
I then drafted what the quiz would look like that would establish the users preferences and desires based on the topics in the book. This is a mockup so the full information isn’t there, but the placeholders are.
After the user submits the quiz they will be taken to their quiz results. They can then upload photos of themselves and any descriptions they would like .
Finally, the user is able to review their matches and message their matches.
Feedback:
I was able to test the concept on some friends and they enjoyed it, although one couple that I tested found some incompatibilities between them even though they were happily married, which led me to believe I shouldn’t discount incompatibilities directly, but should create a more open ended feel to the results. This information will be incorporated into the next iteration.
In conclusion, this was a passion project where I was able to explore the use of font, style and color to create a fun theme for a hypothetical dating app while also being able to explore the use of logic and user flow with the quiz and the 16 compatibilities.
